Dr. Jose Garcia started his academic journey by earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, where he was an NAIA Academic All-American in tennis. He received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1997. He then completed a General Practice Residency from Indiana University Hospital in 1998. After one year of private practice in General Dentistry, he was accepted into the highly competitive Orthodontic Post-Doctoral program at Saint Louis University- considered the birthplace of modern orthodontics. During his residency, Dr. Garcia was elected class president and earned his Certificate in Orthodontics and Master of Science in Dentistry degree in 2001.
Dr. Garcia is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, California Dental Society, and the Tri-County District Society. He belongs to the local chapter of the Seattle Study Club, and Saint Louis Orthodontic Study Club.
Dr. Garcia is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a distinction held by less than 25% of orthodontists nationwide. He is an Invisalign Certified Provider, has been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics, attends continuing education courses in orthodontics and related fields throughout the year and intends to continue to maintain the practice at the cutting edge of orthodontic technique.
Prior to partnering with Dr. Smith in 2005, Dr. Garcia practiced orthodontics in Indianapolis, Indiana and in San Diego, California. He lives in Temecula with his wife, Tanya and son, Victor. On his spare time, Dr. Garcia enjoys playing golf, tennis, skiing, rollerblading, attending live events, and talking orthodontics with his father, who is also an orthodontist.
