Dr. David Smith received a B.S. degree from the University of Georgia in 1965. He taught 7th and 8th grade math and science for 2 years, before attending Emory University School of Dentistry, where he earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
During the Vietnam conflict, he served with the United States Public Health Service and was assigned to the Indian Health Service, where he spent 2 years providing dental care to the Navajo Indians in Northern Arizona. In 1972 he entered the Medical College of Georgia residency program and received a certificate in orthodontics in June of 1974.
Dr. Smith established his first practice in Flagstaff, AZ in 1974. He taught part time at Northern Arizona University in the Department of Dental Hygiene for 9 years. Dr. Smith moved his orthodontic practice to Temecula in 1990. Over the years, he has enjoyed seeing his practice and Temecula grow.
Away from the office, Dr. Smith loves traveling, golf, snow skiing, scuba diving, roller blading at the beach, and will occasionally cook a gourmet meal. He and his wife, Karin, have 4 children and 8 grandchildren.
Dr. Smith has been in the private practice of orthodontics since 1974. He loves what he does and can’t think of anything he would rather do. He enjoys the relationships he develops with his patients as they work together to create their new smiles. His practice philosophy has been to treat his patients the way he would like to be treated. He and his staff try to make each visit the most important part of the patient’s day.
Dr. Smith is a member of and in good standing with the national, state and local societies of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. He is also a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), an honorary dental fraternity and attends continuing education courses each year to stay current on new and innovative things happening in the field.
